Art Materials: we ask that each student bring in $45 at the beginning of the year. This covers the drawing journals and all the materials to be used by the student for the entire year for projects such as painting, drawing, printmaking, and collage. Your contributions are what make this class possible and are greatly appreciated!
*Checks can be made out to Analy HS. Cash is fine, a receipt will be provided.
Class Objectives are to become better observers, to explore various art techniques, become more creative, gain confidence in abilities of expression and visual representation, to make connections between art and life, explore careers in art, and to become more knowledgeable about art history and the art of other cultures.
Semester 1: drawing, design, value, perspective and proportion, tempera painting, color theory and printmaking.
Semester 2: acrylic painting, collage, art history, watercolor, and block printing.
Journals and Portfolios: Journals will be provided in the beginning of the year and will stay in the classroom for warm-up drawings and idea building. Students will make a portfolio to keep work in; this will stay in the classroom and be taken home at the end of the year.
Grading policy/methods of evaluation; Points will be given for each studio assignment, journals, exams and class participation. Points given over the total possible determine the letter grade:
90 –100=A, 80-89=B, 70-79=C, 60-69=D, 0-59=F.
The score on each assignment is based on a list of criteria for the assignments’ particular objectives and will always include effort, commitment, and use of time.
Make up Policy: It is the students’ responsibility to find out what was missed during an absence and to make it up.
