Honors Chemistry
Can you:
· Define the terms “limiting Reactant” and “Excess Reactant”?
· Identify the type of reaction given the chemical equation?
· Write a balanced chemical reaction for any one of the six types of reactions (as we did in chapter 8)?
· Given a balanced chemical equation and the mass or number of moles of a reactant or product, calculate the moles and/or mass of the remaining reactants needed and/or the amount of products produced?
· Identify the limiting reactant and the excess reactant given the mass or number of moles of each reactant and the balanced chemical equation?
· Calculate the mass or number of moles of products in a limiting reactant situation, given the chemical equation and the amounts of each reactant?
· Calculate the amount of excess reactant (mass and/or moles) present after the reaction is complete?
· Define the terms “Theoretical Yield” and “Actual Yield”?
· Calculate percent yield given the theoretical yield and the actual yield?
· Calculate the amounts of each reactant needed to produce an actual yield of a product, given the balanced chemical equation and the expected percent yield?
· Explain the basic principles involved in each of the lab activities we did as part of this chapter and complete calculations similar to those in the lab activities?
