SPECIAL DAY CLASS OFF CAMPUS WORK RELATED SKILL OBJECTIVES

  1. Prerequisites: All students must have current IEP and be enrolled in the Special Day Class Program at Analy High School.  All students must exhibit behaviors appropriate for community placement at a work setting.

 

  1. Students participating in the Special Day Class Off Campus Work Program gain practical experience in community based work activities.  They do not replace regular workers.  They receive a possible total of 10 credits each semester for successful program completion.  The overall goal of this program is to teach our students the skills necessary to become conscientious, responsible employees.

 

  1. The work-related skill objectives for this course include:

 

    1. Getting to work on time
    2. Staying on task
    3. Following directions independently
    4. Getting along with others (fellow workers and supervisors)
    5. Responding positively to authority
    6. Practicing appropriate work setting behaviors
    7. Speed and efficiency
    8. Completing a job with accuracy and thoroughness
    9. Having a positive attitude towards work
    10. Avoiding negative talk about co-workers or supervisors
    11. Proper attire and grooming for work
    12. Developing the ability to stick with a job and maintain a positive demeanor even if it is not a favored assignment
    13. Developing the ability to do his/her best job at work even when Òoutside of workÓ pressures are present
