Welcome to the home page of the Analy High School Cheerleading Team.

AHS CHEER TRYOUT RESULTS

We held our first AHS Cheerleading Team tryouts on May 10th, and have since held two additional tryouts this summer, as several other AHS students were interested in joining our squads. Guess the excellent AHS Cheer reputation is spreading! Congratulations, and a big Tiger welcome, to our new and returning Analy High School cheerleaders for the 2008-2009 season!

WELCOME TO OUR ASSISTANT COACH

I am extremely pleased to introduce our assistant coach, Deanne Cromwell. You have met DeeDee during uniform fittings, as she is our local Varsity sales representative. She is also the Mom of Alysia Pinon, a cheerleader on our varsity squad. However, the most significant role she has held, in terms of benefit to our team, is that she was the head coach of El Molino’s cheer team for ten years! DeeDee shared the details of her career progression with all of us at a recent practice - suffice it to say, we are very fortunate to have her knowledge, expertise, and years of experience to benefit our squads ( I have also found her to have high standards, along with an empathetic nature, and great sense of humor).

ATHLETIC PARTICIPATION PACKET

A reminder to those of you who have not yet turned in your athletic participation packets to me (and you know who you are, because we discussed it at practice last week), they need to be turned in this week, in order for you to continue to practice with the team. If you have any questions, please contact me.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE

Although practice has been held two evenings a week during the summer, practice days and times will change, beginning the week of August 18th, with the return to school (as discussed at practice). After discussions between coaches and cheerleaders, the following practice days and times have been set:

Tuesdays - 2:45-4:45 PM

Fridays - 3:00-5:00 PM (there is a shorter break between school and practice, due to the football game schedule)

Since Wednesday, August 20th is a big day (THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!), there will be NO cheer practice on Tuesday, August 19th. Our first school year practice will be Friday, August 22nd at 3:00 P.M. in the dance room. You are expected to be dressed out in cheer practice clothes, and ready to warm up, at 3:00 P.M.

UNIFORM UPDATE

For those of you who joined the team earlier this summer, and who have paid your uniform deposit, your uniform items have been ordered, and are expected to arrive prior to our first football game on September 5th. For those of you who joined the team very recently, or who have not yet paid the uniform deposit, your uniform order may not be received by September 5th … but, we are doing our best to obtain your uniform items as soon as possible. A reminder that uniform items will not be distributed to the cheerleader until the remaining balance on the uniform order has been paid.

FUNDRAISING UPDATE

Now that cheer camp is over, choreography is underway, and the squads are organized, I would like to begin discussions about future fundraising activities. Several parents expressed an interest in assisting with this endeavor … so, I would like to set up a meeting to share information/expertise with each other, and to strategize. I will be contacting you this week to ascertain whether a weeknight, or weekend, meeting would work better with your schedules.

VARSITY SQUAD CHOREOGRAPHY CAMP

As you are aware, Nicole Nicosia, from Airborne Cheerleading, has been hired to choreograph the football halftime routine for our game with El Molino on October 10th. The varsity squad is scheduled to attend a one-day camp, in order to learn the routine, on Saturday, September 6th, at Airborne Cheerleading in Petaluma, beginning at 10:00 A.M. You may expect to be there for several hours. I will be sharing more information with you about this at practice.

If it seems like there is a lot going on with Analy High School Cheer, that’s because there is!

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call me at (707) 795-9733 (home), or (707) 338-6885 (cell).
